Writing a first draft is like watching a Polaroid develop. By Anne Lamott

English Major with Creative Writing Concentration

The creative writing concentration begins with Words and Forms: An Introduction to the Literary Imagination (155), moves through a sequence of writing courses, including courses in the major genres (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and playwriting), and concludes with the production of a Senior Writing Project, an independent project where writers work closely with a faculty director and reader. Both literary studies and creative writing students compile a Senior Portfolio of writing done in the major with a cover essay reflecting on their own development as readers and writers. The requirements are listed below for students who entered Otterbein in Fall of 2001 or later. Students entering before 2001 should check their catalog.
