English Requirements for Language Arts in Elementary, Middle, and Secondary TeachingRequirements for students seeking secondary teacher licensure in Language Arts appear in the Teacher Education Programs handbook available upon request from the Education Department. Requirements for the major and teacher licensure may differ, but both must be met to become licensed, and the major must be completed to receive a Bachelor's degree. To be recommended for teacher licensure, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better. Class schedules and descriptions are available here. The English courses specified for licensure are as follows: Courses taken by Early Childhood Education majors, Language Arts concentration: Courses taken by Middle Childhood Education majors, Language Arts concentration: Courses taken by Secondary Education majors, Integrated Language Arts: These are the English courses specified for licensure. Secondary Education majors also meet the English major requirements and take courses beyond English and Education for licensure. |
