Some of the accomplishments of the faculty are:

  • Dr. Daugherty is a nationally recognized scholar on Virginia Woolf. Her volume, Teaching To the Lighthouse, is published in the MLA series on teaching.
  • Dr. Eisenstein's study of holocaust literature has resulted in the recent publication of his book, Traumatic Encounters: Literature, the Holocaust, and the Hegelian Subject (2003).
  • Dr. Gorman's poetry and short stories continue to be published in journals throughout the country, including Writing on the Edge; MidAmerica; The Journal of the Society for the Study of Midwestern Literature; and Spare Change Press Broadside. He spent a recent summer at a writers' retreat at Blue Lake, New York, and has done fiction readings recently at Findlay College and at the Midwest Writers Festival.
  • Mr. Joshi is a playwright and screenwriter who has worked closely with Oscar-nominated director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, writing films for the Bollywood (Bombay and Hollywood) film industry. He joined the department in Fall 2003.
  • Dr. Bailey's beyond-the-classroom project (for the past several years) has been as dramaturg for CATCO, the Contemporary American Theater Company in Columbus. He researches plays/playwrights, consults with directors and actors, produces material for the program, and publishes an extensive brochure for subscribers.
