Diversity Events at Otterbein
Not a week passes by without several opportunities to attend diversity programming, from formal lectures to social events.
Below is information and descriptions of major campus events focusing on celebrating our diversity and cultural differences.
Black History Month
Every February, Otterbein celebrates Black History Month with a full schedule of events, including The William Henry Fouse
Black Studies Festival. Past events include speakers, plays, social activities, and the popular Soulfood Luncheon.
International Festival
The annual International Festival is held during Winter quarter. Its purpose is to raise awareness of international issues and topics; to highlight the presence of international students, faculty, and staff on campus; and to emphasize the importance of foreign language study. The festival features guest speakers, faculty and student presentations, the Global Village Dinner and Show, and other special events. Latino Awareness Month
Educational speakers, social events, and cultural activities enlighten our campus community about Latino culture and people. Each year the Office of Ethnic Diversity works with dining services to host a "Latino Luncheon" which includes a variety of Latino music and ethnic food.
Martin Luther King Day
Otterbein holds a convocation with a special guest speaker every year for MLK day, as well as other activities such as this year's candlelight march. Click here to learn more about Martin Luther King and view past convocation speakers.
Safezone Conference
SafeZone is a network of allies committed to providing a safe and affirming environment for all at Otterbein College, including anyone dealing with issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. The SafeZone Conference is a day-long event sponsored by the Campus Programming Board and FreeZone and will provide further information on a variety of sexual orientation and gender identity issues. All members of the campus community are invited to attend the conference.
Women's Studies Festival
The Women's Studies Festival takes place during spring quarter. The festival features presentations by visiting scholars addressing worldwide women's issues.
