Department of Communication

The Department of Communication at Otterbein College has a proud tradition of excellence in educating professional communicators. The Board of Trustees approved a Department of Public Speaking in 1906, making this one of the oldest communication departments in the United States. Since that time, the Department of Communication has grown to serve more than 350 majors in our programs each year. In 2000, the Speech Communication Association of Ohio named the Department of Communication an "Outstanding Program."

Our program offers students the opportunity to learn about communication, in its many forms, while applying skills in several practical communication activities.
