Otterbein Student String Quartets to Perform
The Otterbein College Department of Music will present a concert of chamber music performed by student string quartets at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, in Riley Auditorium in the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Otterbein String Orchestra to Perform at Westerville South High School
The Otterbein College String Orchestra, under the direction of Jim Bates, will present a program entitled "Classic" at 7 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 9, in the auditorium at Westerville South High School, 303 S. Otterbein Ave., Westerville. Featured on the program will be a divertimento by Mozart and Igor Stravinsky's neoclassic ballet Apollon Musagete. Otterbein College Cardinal Marching Band to Perform
The Otterbein College Cardinal Marching Band will present a concert performance to cap off a spectacular season at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, in the Rike Center at Otterbein College, 160 Center St., Westerville. Under the new direction of Michael Yonchak, the Cardinal Marching Band brings its 2008 season to a close with a musical review of the songs the band has performed on the field and in the grand stand at Memorial Stadium. The concert will begin at with the band's traditional entrance cadence and will feature the visual performances of the Otterbein O-Squad, the Cardinal Color Guard and our Cardinal Twirlers. Otterbein College Percussion Ensemble to Perform
The Otterbein Percussion Ensemble will present its autumn quarter concert at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the Battelle Fine Arts Center's Riley Auditorium, 170 W. Park St., Westerville. The performance is free and open to the public.
Featured on the program is William Cahn's Fauna, written for percussion, the Emax sampler, and a variety of instruments inspired by the Australian outback from the melodian to a didgeridoo. Also of special interest is Claire Omar Musser's classic arrangement of Rosales' Bolero. Recent additions to our repertoire will include Nathan Daughtrey's Mercury Rising, Kevin Bobo's Quartet for Four Snare Drums, Steve Fitch's Convergences, and Eckhard Kopetzki's Fiesta del Sol. The ensemble is comprised of students Kris Aten, Ruthann Elder, Mike Johnson, Alex Kusko, Kari Sims and Ryan Zimmerman and is directed by Jack Jenny.

Otterbein Early Music Ensemble to Perform "Mad for Madrigals"
The Otterbein College Early Music Ensemble will feature faculty vocalists in "Mad for
Madrigals" at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, in the Battelle Fine Arts Center's Riley Auditorium, 170 W. Park St., Westerville. The program will include Italian and English Renaissance vocal music and a variety of instrumental arrangements of vocal works. The concert is free and open to the public. Otterbein College Choral Ensembles to Perform
The Otterbein College Department of Music will present a choral concert featuring Camerata, Otterbein Singers, and Women's Chorale, under the direction of faculty members Kim Boyd, Craig Johnson, and Sheena Phillips at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, at Church of the Messiah United Methodist, 51 N. State St., Westerville. The performance is free and open to the public. The program will feature a variety of choral works, including music of the Christmas and Advent season. Sabbatical Presentation to Explore Twentieth-Century French Music
Otterbein College Department of Music Chairperson Craig Johnson will present "The Ox on the Roof: Music in Paris in the 1920s," at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, in the Battelle Fine Arts Center's Riley Auditorium, 170 W. Park St., Westerville. The performance is free and open to the public.
"The Ox on the Roof: Music in Paris in the 1920s" focuses on the music of Les Six, a group of six twentieth-century French composers - Georges Auric, Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, and Germaine Tailleferre. The presentation is a result of Johnson's sabbatical leave in spring 2008 when he conducted research at the Bibliotheque nationale de France in Paris, and in various other locations as well. The evening will include a discussion of the importance of the composers within the context of the musical scene in and around Paris in the early part of the century, as well as images, readings, recorded musical excerpts, and performances of representative choral music of Les Six by the Otterbein Vocal Ensemble, Kim Boyd, conductor.

Otterbein College Wind Ensemble to Perform
The Otterbein Wind Ensemble will present its autumn concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, in the Fritsche Theatre at Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove St., Westerville. This performance is free and open to the public. Under the direction of Margaret Underwood, the ensemble will be performing works by Norman Dello Joio, Ernst Toch, Percy Grainger and Vincent D'Indy.
